KONGA: Modern Cabin Architecture with a Balanced Exterior
KONGA cabin:
where comfort meets sustainability.
EXTERIOR DESIGN
KONGA cabins were thoughtfully designed to escape the ordinary, allowing you the freedom to place them anywhere you desire. As a weather-resistant wooden house, each cabin is equipped with well-insulated mineral wool to brave the harshest Nordic winter climates while ensuring cozy warmth inside. The strategic placement of various-sized windows allows for natural airflow and refreshing ventilation, bringing the beauty of the outdoors inside.
Charred wood panels are meticulously treated with a special weather-resistant oil, enabling them to withstand the test of time and blend harmoniously with nature’s surroundings.
At the heart of the exterior architecture lie the windows, playing a signature role in both form and function. KONGA cabins boast wooden two-layer double-glazed windows, providing effective heat insulation and enhancing the overall energy efficiency of the cabin.
Did you know that each KONGA cabin is fully furnished ?
INTERIOR DESIGN
As you enter a KONGA cabin, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness that embraces you. This sense of openness is skillfully created by seamlessly blending outdoor materials into the interior design.
The walls and ceilings are from oak veneer panels or dark slim cross-laminated-timber boards, creating a natural extension of the surrounding environment. As you walk upon the solid wood floors, the comforting sensation of being barefoot connects you even further to nature. With a gentle push, the windows invite the refreshing breeze indoors, and the harmony between the cabin’s interior and the picturesque outdoors.
Moving into the bathroom space, we have chosen to embrace the beauty of natural stone by incorporating off-cuts or using the durable and sustainable Contec or Rotband coating. Each layer is meticulously crafted by the KONGA team, culminating in a seamless and inviting look with a warm touch.
Upcycling is part of KONGA design
SUSTAINABILITY
We care about the materials KONGA cabins are made of and the philosophy they embody.
From any perspective, the core material of any KONGA cabin is wood – the most sustainable and durable choice for building a prefab house.
Additionally, we collaborate with stone manufacturers to set aside natural stone off-cuts, allowing us to carefully select the right colors and textures for our KONGA cabins and showcase upcycling in our design approach.
KONGA’s solid wood floors are also produced from off-cuts in collaboration with the BOEN factory.
The 25 x 25 shelving system, a signature look, is manufactured using solid wood off-cuts combined with joinery craftsmanship.
INTEGRITY IS THE CORE
When you are inside a KONGA, you feel the uniquely crafted windows in varying sizes carefully positioned throughout the space, which became the identity of each KONGA cabin. These windows connect you with nature, and slowly your “autopilot” disconnects, allowing you to connect with your surroundings. You start to feel the gentle breeze, hear the rustle of leaves, and witness the dance of sunlight and shadows. It’s a reminder for humans to explore the beauty of simplicity.
“This project was a different approach, as it’s not a 10-story hotel, but a unique tiny house that offers comfort and awakens your senses,” continues Mette.
CABIN’S LIVING EXPERIENCE
KONGA is not just a cabin; it’s an experience that invites you to embrace nature and do everyday task differently.
Step outside, and you’ll be greeted by an elegant and inviting façade of burnt wood that seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings, creating a serene retreat. The cabin becomes an organic extension of nature.
Inside, you’ll discover an open-space layout that dissolves the barriers of traditional room divisions, seamlessly integrating the space with the environment. With windows open, the boundaries blur, and the outside becomes one with the inside, allowing a refreshing natural breeze to circulate throughout.
COMFORT MEETS SUSTAINABILITY
Konga Cabins stand tall as sustainable Danish design, produced in Lithuania.
Our commitment to sustainability begins with embracing the skills of local labor, making the cabin cost-effective and community driven.
At the heart of Konga Cabin lies the beauty and strength of solid wood, carefully chosen for both its durability and timelessness. This core material envelops the exterior and interior, infusing the cabin with a sense of natural elegance that stands the test of time.
Upcycling is important part of KONGA’s philosophy. We integrate upcycled elements (solid wood, natural stone), breathing new life into discarded solid wood off-cuts. This artful upcycling not only adds a unique identity to Konga Cabin but also showcases the harmony between creativity and responsible craftsmanship.
